Little Garden

This year I wanted to do something I've never done on my own before. Plant a little garden. While we don't have much room at our apt. and the land is not ours, we've found that we can start to grow just about anything in pots. Here are some of the things David, Caden and I have planted:
herbs-parsley, oregano, chives, basil, spearmint
cucumbers
snap peas
beans
sunflowers & wildflowers
and tomatoes in our Topsy-Turvey

It's great to have the opportunity to save some $, teach Caden about plants and get the satisfaction of keeping a plant alive but I'd be lying if I didn't acknowledge the fact that it has a lot to do with Nana.

It's probably no surprise that I loved helping her in her garden when I lived there. Actually, most of the time I was a little bit afraid that I was pulling up the plants instead of the weeds. She always seemed so peaceful doing that work and did it with love for her family. I loved her rickety old wheelbarrow, her sun hat, those dinky garden shoes and the work dress/snap-front coat thing that accompanied her time in the sunshine. I can't say that I'll have any luck actually seeing a "crop" this year, I should have paid better attention. But I will say that I will think of her constantly while attending my little garden.

This took place a month or so ago, but here is an abridged video of Kris and Molly Raser at their Daddy/Daughter Dance recital! We practiced these dances for 6 weeks and then invited Moms and siblings out for the fun.

Enjoy!

B-days/Anniversaries

I'd love to be up to date on all the special occurrences in every one's life. But I don't feel I'm that organized yet-plus I probably don't have a complete list of b-days/anniversaries. That being said here are the events this month as I know them:
Birthdays
6-Heather Walters
7-Scott Vines
20-Scott Perry
24-Pop King

Anniversary
16-Becky and Mike Chandler
Hope you all have happy days!

Wungram Shishak (cousin) has cancer

Dear loved ones--relatives and friends:
I'll make this first notice very brief...Our eldest son Wungram has been diagnosed with T-ALL (acutelymphoblastic leukemia/lymphoma), a highly aggressive cancer. He will start chemo next week for 6 months, biweekly. FYI -- He will, with the advice and encouragement of some folks familiar with and ardent "fans" of CAM (complementary alternative medicine),supplement the standard treatment with various food/nutritional substances which will offset/counteract the side effects of the "poison"(yes, that hits the nail on the head: chemo IS poison).

Wungram and wife Genni, and Tui and myself, will appreciate your prayer support during the trying days ahead.

Love in Him,Margaret and Tui (missionaries in Thailand)

Blog Launch/Nana and Pop's Anniversary

I didn't want to go crazy with the first post. This is just the beginning. Eventually, I think it would be great to have a family tree posted here and a way to track birthdays/special events. I know I can't keep up anymore! I also hope to get help adding on our extended relatives.

As the welcome note indicates, I hope we can use this as a tool to remember our past (and expand on what we know about it), keep up to date on each other's present and prepare the way for future generations to look back and be thankful for family.

I love you all and look forward to working on this blog with you.

Happy Anniversary Nana and Pop!!
